The President of the Supreme Administrative Court, Pavol Na\u010f, on the occasion of the conclusion of his tenure in the office of the president of this court, met at the end of April 2026 with important partners and colleagues, with whom during the leadership of the Supreme Administrative Court he intensively cooperated and\u00a0<\/span>whose work had an impact on administrative justice.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The President of the Supreme Administrative Court began a series of personal meetings during his working visit to\u00a0Ko\u0161ice, where he thanked Ivan Fia\u010dan, President of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic, for his cooperation. The President of the Constitutional Court highlighted the role of Pavol Na\u010f in\u00a0establishing\u00a0the Supreme Administrative Court as an independent judicial institution and praised the local court\u2019s contribution to the judicial review of public authorities. During their conversation, the presidents praised the mutual exchange of information, particularly\u00a0regarding\u00a0their educational activities and the sharing of experiences.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>They also mentioned the change awaiting both institutions, namely the agenda\u00a0regarding\u00a0delays in proceedings before general courts, which is expected to be transferred from the Constitutional Court to the Supreme Administrative Court.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During his working visit to\u00a0Ko\u0161ice, President Na\u010f also met with the President of the Judicial Academy of the Slovak Republic, Peter Hull, at the grand opening of the Judicial Academy\u2019s regional office on the premises of the Administrative Court in\u00a0Ko\u0161ice, whose primary goal is to create better conditions for professional training events in eastern Slovakia. President Na\u010f thanked President Hull for his regular cooperation in organizing an educational event for administrative court judges titled \u201cDays of Administrative Justice.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At the headquarters of the General Prosecutor\u2019s Office of the Slovak Republic, Prosecutor General Maro\u0161 \u017dilinka, together with First Deputy Prosecutor General Jozef Kander, welcomed the President of the Supreme Administrative Court. \u201cThe Prosecutor\u2019s Office plays an irreplaceable role in reviewing the legality of public administration bodies\u2019 activities and decisions in Slovakia.\u00a0That is\u00a0why,\u00a0in expressing my gratitude to the Prosecutor General, I praised the high-quality exercise of these powers by prosecutors at all levels of the system,\u201d Pavol Na\u010f summarized the conversation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The President of the Slovak Supreme Administrative Court also met with the heads of all three administrative courts, namely Bratislava,\u00a0Bansk\u00e1\u00a0Bystrica, and\u00a0Ko\u0161ice. The main topic of discussion was how effectively they are providing judicial protection against the decisions and procedures of public administration bodies.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Pavol Na\u010f was also welcomed in the office of the Public Defender of Rights, R\u00f3bert\u00a0Dobrovodsk\u00fd, and the President of the Supreme Administrative Court praised his efforts to protect the rights and freedoms of all citizens against public authorities.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Therefore, I highly appreciate his work, as, much like administrative justice, it is focused primarily on protecting the rights of the weaker parties in public law relationships,” commented Pavol Na\u010f on the ombudsman’s contribution.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At a meeting with Marcela Kosov\u00e1, President of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic, they jointly evaluated the results of the local court\u2019s decision-making activities. Pavol Na\u010f commented on the meeting: \u201cI expressed my gratitude to the President for the proper exercise of the Judicial Council\u2019s powers in relation to the newly established system of administrative courts, as well as for her personally accommodating approach toward our court.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Together with Boris Susko, Minister of Justice of the Slovak Republic, they discussed current issues and assessed the past five years of the Supreme Administrative Court\u2019s activities. \u201cI informed the Minister of the results and the current status of the Supreme Administrative Court\u2019s caseload regarding cassation and disciplinary matters as of the end of my term as President of the Court, as well as the Court\u2019s readiness to review the constitutionality and legality of the upcoming municipal elections. At the same time, the Minister and I agreed on the need to establish a permanent working group to address all current issues in the sphere of administrative justice in Slovakia,\u201d concluded the President of the Supreme Administrative Court following his visit to the Minister of Justice.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On the last day of April, Pavol Na\u010f concluded a series of farewell meetings with a visit to the management of the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic, specifically to President Franti\u0161ek Mozner and Vice President Ter\u00e9zia Mecelov\u00e1. The most recent topic of discussion between the heads of both institutions was the renovation of the building on\u00a0\u017dupn\u00e9\u00a0Square in Bratislava, where both courts are expected to be\u00a0located\u00a0as separate entities in the future. However, the courts have long been connected by issues of education and the sharing of experiences\u00a0regarding\u00a0work organization. \u201cThe meeting with the management of the Supreme Court took place in a friendly atmosphere and in the spirit of fulfilling the memorandum of cooperation between our two supreme courts of the general judiciary. We also discussed the upcoming tasks related to the plan to\u00a0establish\u00a0a joint headquarters for the supreme courts in the\u00a0foreseeable future.
