Judicial Network of the EU (JNEU)

Judicial Network of the European Union (fr. Réseau judiciaire de l’Union européenne, from which the network abbreviation “RJUE” is derived)

The network was set up on the initiative of the President of the Court of Justice of the European Union, but also of the Presidents of the Constitutional and Supreme Courts of the Member States of the European Union. This was done in March 2017 on the occasion of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Treaties of Rome.

The creation of the Judicial Network of the EU was preceded by discussions by the Member States of the European Union, inspired by a common interest in strengthening judicial cooperation in the development and compliance of European Union law. An equally important step in the history of the Network was the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the Member States’ courts to make all documents (which are not confidential) accessible and shareable to the general public on the Judicial Network website. This decision of the Judicial Network has, inter alia, allowed direct access to decisions on preliminary questions and, in particular, the possibility of consulting references for a preliminary ruling.

The sharing and centralisation of information, the dissemination and study of European law as interpreted by the Court of Justice of the European Union and the courts of the Member States, as well as the promotion of mutual knowledge and understanding of the laws of the Member States have become the main objective of the functioning of the Judicial Network. The Supreme Administrative Court of the Slovak Republic has access, by virtue of its membership, to the non-public platform of the Judicial Network of the EU, which, in addition to the aforementioned, contains also national decisions applying European law or various other reports and studies.
