The Supreme Administrative Court of the Slovak Republic ruled on the judge of the Košice Municipal Court
The disciplinary accused judge of the Košice Municipal Court, Tomáš Paranič, was found guilty by the disciplinary panel of the Supreme Administrative Court of committing a disciplinary offense consisting in violating the duties of a judge. The disciplinary accused admitted his guilt and the panel of the Supreme Administrative Court imposed a disciplinary measure on him for his actions in the form of a reduction of the judge’s official salary by 10% for a period of 2 months (Case No. 33D/2/2025).
The disciplinary offense was committed by the disciplinary accused judge by failing, in his capacity as a judge of the Košice Municipal Court, to issue written judgments within 30 working days from the date of their pronouncement in 12 assigned cases.
The disciplinary panel concluded that the judge had, through his conduct, culpably breached his duty to act conscientiously, efficiently, and without undue delay, thereby committing a disciplinary offense under Section 116(1)(a) in conjunction with Section 30(4) of Act No. 385/2000 on Judges and Lay Judges and on Amendments to Certain Acts, as amended. When deciding on the disciplinary measure, the Panel of the Supreme Administrative Court took into account the fact that the judge admitted his guilt, regretted his act, his work had been assessed as excellent so far, and he had taken steps to remedy the situation.
No remedy is admissible against this decision.
The disciplinary panel’s decision on guilt was adopted by a vote of 4:1, the panel decided on the other operative parts of the decision unanimously.
The disciplinary case was decided by the panel No. 33D: President of the Panel JUDr. Michal Dzurdzík, PhD., the Judges JUDr. Viola Takáčová, PhD., LL.M. and prof. JUDr. Juraj Vačok, PhD., lay judges JUDr. Romana Bdžochová and JUDr. Kvetoslava Živčáková.
