The Supreme Administrative Court was honoured that a delegation from the CJEU responded to the invitation of the management of the local court from 2022 and visited Slovakia. The meeting was preceded by months of preparation and communication between the two institutions, the subject of which was, among other things, the identification of the topics of the meeting. In particular, the aim of the visit was to deepen the mutual exchange of professional experience between the top judicial institutions of the European Union and Slovakia.

The initial meeting of the delegations took place at a round table during a joint dinner in the historic centre of Bratislava, with the participation of the President of the local court Pavol Naď, the Vice-President Marian Trenčan and the Adviser to the President Daniel Staruch. The dinner was also held in the presence of the guests of honour, namely the President of the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic, Ján Šikuta, and the Vice-President, Andrea Moravčíková.

On the following day of the international visit, a working meeting was held with the members of the plenary of the Supreme Administrative Court and the staff of its Chancellery. Representatives of both delegations discussed the case-law of the CJEU related to the asylum agenda and its application in the decisions of the Supreme Administrative Court. In the second part of the meeting, President Lenaerts presented the topic of the protection of the financial interests of the European Union in the case-law of the CJEU.

In the afternoon, after a joint lunch, which was also attended by the management of the Supreme Court, the delegation from the CJEU was given a programme by the Court.
