Judges hold discussion with the President of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters

Professor Graver was welcomed at the seat of the Court by its Vice-President Marián Trenčan, who appreciated Graver’s work so far and his willingness to discuss with the representatives of the Supreme Administrative Court. The meeting was also attended by judges Katarína Cangárová and Zuzana Šabová, judges Peter Potásch and Juraj Vačok, as well as the director of the Chancellery of the President of the Court, Norbert Ostró.

During the meeting with academician Graver, the judges also discussed legal education, i.e. the differences in the teaching process in Norway and Slovakia. They did not omit the topic of the training of law graduates and the associated pitfalls in the exercise of their legal professions. Topics discussed included the solution of ethical dilemmas.

At the end of the meeting, the representatives of the Supreme Administrative Court expressed their willingness to participate in further comparative exchange of acquired experience. Professor Graver expressed his pleasure that the plurality of opinions, which can also be triggered by the current composition of the court, contributes to the legal development in the state.

Hans Petter Graver graduated from the University of Oslo and received his professorship in sociology of law with a specialization in administrative justice. From 2008 to 2015 he was Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Oslo. He is the author of numerous books and scholarly articles, both in the field of administrative justice, but also in the sociology of law, legal history and argumentation and rhetoric. Graver is also president of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters.
