The European dimension of administrative justice as one of the themes of the meeting with future judges and prosecutors
At the beginning of both meetings, the Vice-President of the Court, Marián Trenčan, first introduced the institution to the guests and then explained to them how the administrative agenda of the local Court works. The guests were also particularly interested in the disciplinary agenda of the Court and the method of selecting presiding judges for the five-member disciplinary chambers. The discussion was not without questions concerning the decision-making in the area of the so-called covid measures.
The mechanism of functioning of the Department of Judicial, Analytical and Support Activities of the Chancellery of the Supreme Administrative Court of the Slovak Republic, which within the organisational structure of the Chancellery includes assistants to judges, recorders and legal analysts, was explained to the participants by the director of this department Martin Hlinka. The meetings were also attended by representatives from the ranks of judges, namely Judge Juraj Vačok and the President of the Panel Katarína Benczová, who explained to the participants from the position of the President of the Judicial Council of the Supreme Administrative Court its functioning and scope of competence.
In the second part of the meeting, the representatives of the Supreme Administrative Court gave space to foreign guests who explained how the administrative justice system works in the countries they come from.
The foreign delegation consisted of potential future judges and prosecutors from Germany, Belgium, Sweden, France, Hungary and Poland. The visit to the Supreme Administrative Court was organised by the Judicial Academy of the Slovak Republic. The European Judicial Education Network is the expert guarantor of the AIAKOS 2022 project.
