The subject matter of the protocol also caught the attention of the judges of the Supreme Administrative Court of the Slovak Republic

On June 9^th, 2026, an internal training event on the topic of “Diplomatic Protocol and Social Etiquette” was held at the Supreme Administrative Court. The event was organized for judges and staff by Roman Roth, a career diplomat and former director of the Protocol Department at the Office of the President of the Slovak Republic. The topic was tailored specifically to the needs of the judicial system, but participants gained insights that are also applicable to everyday life and interpersonal interactions.

The training began with a general overview of the topic of protocol in government and public institutions and an explanation of the importance of etiquette and protocol. Roman Roth presented the participants with the “Ten Commandments of Protocol”—guidelines that outline behaviour in accordance with social norms and unwritten principles. This was followed by a discussion of the basic principles and importance of social etiquette, along with a summary of rules regarding hierarchy and titles.

Roman Roth also summarized the principles of professional conduct, particularly when meeting with prominent figures and important visitors. He also addressed the topic of communication—both written and oral—focusing on its formal aspects, the importance of nonverbal communication, and the differences between communication within internal and external environments, particularly from the perspective of representing the Supreme Administrative Court with dignity. He also touched on state symbols and their proper use during the training.

The training participants also had the opportunity to ask questions regarding the specific protocols involved in their profession. Roman Roth provided comprehensive, context-rich answers based on his own extensive professional experience and meetings.
