The Supreme Administrative Court of the Slovak Republic was visited by a prominent figure of the Czech administrative judiciary and the current President of the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic, Josef Baxa

Josef Baxa visited the Supreme Administrative Court of the Slovak Republic on September 11, 2025, with the aim of recording the first episode of the Administrative Podcast – a new podcast by the Supreme Administrative Court. He also met with the leadership of the Supreme Administrative Court, and they discussed several current issues in administrative and constitutional judiciary.

Josef Baxa will be the first guest of the new podcast of the Supreme Administrative Court, the primary motivation of which will be to bring administrative law closer to the professional public, as well as to those interested in law in general. Each episode will focus on different aspects of administrative judiciary, its history and development – not only in Slovakia. “We approached individuals who have shaped and continue to shape administrative judiciary to participate in interviews. It is an honor for us that the first episode will feature a personality who helped shape administrative judiciary in our neighboring country and will reflect on its beginnings, ” said Pavol Naď, President of the Supreme Administrative Court.

During the subsequent joint meeting between Josef Baxa and the President of the Supreme Administrative Court, they addressed, among other things, issues related to constitutional oversight of decisions made by supreme administrative courts. In this context, they emphasized the importance of consistently respecting human rights and fundamental freedoms in administrative and judicial proceedings. “The special significance of the visit by the first-ever President of the Supreme Administrative Court of the Czech Republic lies in the depth of his understanding of administrative judiciary and the need for dialogue about its current state and developmental trends. Even in his position as President of the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic, he follows our decision-making and evaluates it very positively,” commented Pavol Naď, President of the Supreme Administrative Court.

“When the Slovak Supreme Administrative Court was established, I saw it as a unique contribution to the process of restoring public trust in the Slovak judicial system. After five years, I can see that this young court is succeeding. The meeting with the President and Vice-President was very friendly, constructive, and beneficial. I keep my fingers crossed for my Slovak colleagues that they persevere in further building the court,” said Josef Baxa at the end of his visit.
