Visit of a delegation from the Supreme Administrative Court of the Republic of Austria
The bilateral meeting took place on the 6th of December 2023 and was a follow-up to last year’s meeting held in Vienna. At that time, the representatives of both courts had already expressed their interest in cooperation and exchange of information on the activities of both courts.

The President of the Supreme Administrative Court Pavol Naď stated that “the visit of the highest representative of the administrative justice of the Republic of Austria, Professor Rudolf Thienel, is an honour for us, all the more so because the President has made his highly positive attitude to the fundamental changes in the performance of administrative justice in Slovakia very clear. The fact that we are historically connected by the pre-litavian roots of the procedural regulation of the judicial control of public administration allows us to look not only for identical elements and processes in the performance of the administrative courts, but especially for inspiring sources of knowledge of the legal setting of the functioning of this supreme institution of the judiciary in Austria as a doctrinal court.”
During the first historical meeting, the representatives of the Austrian partner court expressed their interest in sharing their experience and good practice also in the field of auxiliary apparatus for judges, which is not present in the Austrian court to the same extent as in the Supreme Administrative Court. In the Slovak court, these important support activities are reflected in the job description of the assistant judge and the team of legal analysts.
The subject of the discussion was also the exchange of experience in the issues of the electronification of files and the method of communication between the administrative courts and the Supreme Administrative Court, the topics of current prejudicial questions raised by both courts, the internships of judges and court staff and many other issues having a significant impact on the performance of the judiciary.
At the end of the meeting, President Pavol Naď emphasised the readiness of the Supreme Administrative Court for further cooperation with its Austrian partners.
President Rudolf Thienel was accompanied during his visit by Judge and Director of the Office of the President Peter Doblinger and Judge Anke Sembacher.
The Slovak delegation, alongside the President of the Court Pavel Naď, was accompanied by the Vice-President of the Court Marián Trenčan, the President of the Panel Petra Príbelská, the President of the Panel Michal Novotný and the Adviser to the President of the Court Daniel Staruch.
